Josh runs us through the differences between the famous MegaMat and the almost-as-famous MegaMat Lite.
MegaMat (above) is a foam insulated mat and the foam, combined with the stretch tricot surface, provides an amazing bed-like, cradling sleep experience. MegaMat Lite (below) maintains the stretch surface, but replaces the foam with a light, compressible lofted insulation, which makes it surprisingly light and compact when stowed.
Backpackers.com recently reviewed Exped's famous MegaMat.
From the review:
You can’t get a better car camping sleeping pad — the Exped MegaMat 10 is simply the most comfortable experience around. In fact, if you’re frequently in the outdoors and considering a new mattress for your bedroom, get this instead.
Exped's famously comfortable MegaMat gets a few updates for 2017.
It's still long, wide, super thick and as comfortable as your bed at home. But a few nice details have been tweeked for 2017. Here's a synopsis:
- In addition to the original ruby red color, MegaMat is now available in olive green
- The new stuff sack is a roll-top design that is loaded from the top, making packing very easy and quick. There's also a shoulder strap for carrying.
- A new, larger deflate valve makes purging the air from MegaMat quicker
