Hi Exped, After a powerful hailstorm in our Norwegian high mountains this summer, I decided to give you feedback about durability on Venus II Extreme and to send you lots of thanks.

Exped Venus, Trond Wien, Norway

Prior to this specific tour, the Venus II had spent about 200 days and nights with me in what’s called Norwegian higher mountains and wilderness in the past 3 years. It has definitely become my favorite tent. I also use Exped packsacks, Exped UL Synmat and Exped Vela I Extreme and I am mainly impressed by Expeds products.

Hammocks are often considered a summer-only piece of gear. Well, they certainly are great on a warm evening, slowly swinging their occupants to sleep. But hammocks aren't too bad in winter either, under certain circumstances.

There is nothing more annoying than a waterproof drybag that accumulates moisture on the inside instead of keeping it out. This is why no matter how simple an Exped Drybag may seem, every detail is designed with care and manufactured with quality and durability in mind.

Simon Ingram from the Trail-Magazine recommends our Fold Drybags.

Is it cold feet season? not in our booties.

All Exped backpacks include these ingenious little strap tidies. No more straps flapping in the wind!

R-value: putting a number on warmth

When buying a sleeping mat, most people shop around a bit and compare the different brands and models available. Important points such as price, quality, comfort, ease of use, reliability, compressibility and warmth all enter into the equation. But it's that last one, warmth, that's a bit sticky. With all the other parameters it's pretty straightforward to compare mats. Price and quality go together and info about comfort, ease of use, reliability, and compressibility can all be culled from online reviews,  in-store poking and prodding, and manufacturer websites. But this warmth rating, R-value, isn't as easy to accurately verify across brands and deserves an explanation, so we thought we'd clarify a few points.

Scout Hammock Combi is a complete shelter - hammock, mosquito net, tarp, and suspension kit. Ready to go.

We were out in the hills recently and the Lightning 60 came along as a load hauler. Comfortable all the way up and back.
