Done in a day, quiver of one. This is how we like to view the Mountain Lite 20 (actually 22L) pack.
It’s built with alpine climbing in mind, but it’s the perfect pack for your day trip in to the mountains, no matter how many miles you plan to tackle.
Starting with the suspension of the pack, it’s easy to see just how comfortable the pack is on your back and just how well it carries a variety of loads. The molded foam back panel provides a comfortable and close fit on your back which promotes air circulation and also features a specific spot for quickly stashing your ice axe, pure Swiss innovation! The shoulder harness is another innovative feature on the bag. Starting on the bottom of the bag, they extend across the bottom, providing a supportive load transfer and compression system that carries extremely well no matter how full or empty your load is. The last key feature is the padded and removable hip belt that can either be completely removed or used with just the webbing portion of the belt for fast and light or around town use.
The zippered, top loading design swallows a full days’ worth of gear, with room still for a few extra pieces depending on your objective. The main body of the bag is large, with a boxy barrel shape that packs very efficiently. The internal hydration sleeve, carries a 2L water bladder or it can be folded in half and used as an extra interior stash pocket.
Once you load up the inside, the Mountain Lite 20 offers several unique features that sets the pack apart. First off, the top lid features a zippered compartment with key clip, plus a separate pocket for more precious cargo on the underside. Huge bottle pockets on each side of the pack make for easy grab and go stash compartments for food, a camera, or a bottle of your favorite hydration drink. The most noteworthy though, aren’t as obvious as you move to the back of the bag, we provide you with a standard bungee cord compression system, which is perfect for stuffing a jacket for easy access. However, our bungee cord easily becomes more than standard as you unclip it from either side, making it great for stashing crampons or a climbing helmet, keeping them secure as you trek to the base of your climb. The small clips also provide you with the ability to store away the trekking pole and ice axe loops at the bottom, so they do not catch on small objects as you scramble under, over, and through tight spaces.
The Mountain Lite 20, is a simple pack with unique and innovative features that you will find throughout the EXPED line of packs. It’s perfect for a day hike with the family or scramble up your favorite peak.
