Once upon a time there was a dragon who had lived for hundreds of years in a small castle in the Glarus mountains. The locals lovingly called him Wisli dragon. Every winter he watches over the Raminer river and makes sure that the Tschingelböcke with their pointed horns don't come down into the valley...and if hasn't melted, you'll find him this winter directly behind the Wisli forest in his castle. Thomas Oschwald built it, captured it in photo and video and of course spent the night in it with his partner ...

Sleep together! Here at EXPED we have solutions designed specifically for bringing this important and pleasurable part of the at-home sleep experience into the outdoors. That, right there, is the goal of our sleep gear: making the at-home sleep experience mobile and including a sleep partner.

With the winter months upon us, staying warm on backcountry trips becomes a little more challenging; it requires careful attention to the gear list.

Josh runs us through the differences between the famous MegaMat and the almost-as-famous MegaMat Lite.

Size medium MegaMat Duo is designed with vehicle use in mind. Below is a video guide to how it works.

If you sleep with a partner at home, why not in the outdoors?

MegaMat Outfitter is one tough customer. In fact, it's Exped's toughest mat. An excellent choice for rafting, overlanding, fishing/hunting camps and basecamps of in general. And if you let your dog on your sleeping mat, this is the one most suitable for that purpose.

Three products appear in this year's Backpacker Magazine Gear Guide. Click here for details: MegaMat Lite, Hyperquilt and Explore 75

New for 2018, the MegaMat Lite is perhaps EXPED’s most versatile sleeping mat.
