Roger Schäli visiting Exped headquarters in Zurich.

Six spectacular north faces, three countries and a lot of pasta - the North6 project will certainly remain in Roger Schäli's and Simon Gietl's memories for a long time. Two weeks after the last summit attempt, Roger talked to us about challenges, highlights and his friendship with Simon, among other things.

Exped friend and brand ambassador Roger Schäli has once again achieved a spectacular feat with his North6 project, together with Tyrolean alpinist Simon Gietl! Roger comments: "For me, this was probably my most beautiful mountaineering experience"!

Comfort lives up to its name in several important and unique ways. It is cut a little wider than other mummy bags, which makes it less constrictive. Knees can be pulled up within the bag and there's a little more room around the torso for unrestricted movement. There's a separate zipper at the foot, which allows for ventilation in the night and makes it possible for the user to walk around camp while wearing the bag! (Let's face it, nobody wants to get out of their sleeping bag on a cold morning).

Exped has stood for high-quality, high-performance and robust outdoor products since 1983. To guarantee this quality, we need not only well-trained but also motivated employees in our partner factories. We have been working with most of our suppliers and factories for over ten years. This consistency is fundamental for sustainable development. We visit all the factories regularly and maintain an intensive exchange on an equal footing. But this year everything is different.

On 31 July, She is outdoors presented awards for the first time – specifically for outdoor sports products for women. Among the winners is an Exped product, the new Ultra 3R Mat.

EXPED ambassador, Graham Zimmerman, and his partner Ian Welsted, have established basecamp for their attempt on the west ridge of K2. But before setting foot on K2, they have been acclimatizing on nearby Broad Peak; climbing up to sleep, do the uphill athlete thing and hang out as high as 7,000 meters.

For this trip, EXPED built a high altitude tent to Graham's specifications. Called the Infinity, it's a single-wall, ultralight climbing tent designed to weather the worst storms while fitting onto small ledges and platforms. Just the right thing for the west ridge.

EXPED ambassador, Graham Zimmerman, has emerged, over the past decade, as one of the finest alpinists in the world. He has made many first ascents in the great mountain ranges of the world and won the highest praise from the mountaineering community. In 2020, he received the gold medal of alpinism, the coveted Piolet d’Or, for his team's 2019 first ascent of the southeast face of Link Sar (7041m) in the Pakistani Karakoram. All of his climbs are done in the cleanest style and with small teams. So with each passing year, we wonder what GZ’s next objective will be.
