Product Description
The SIM 2.5 is one of our classic, self-inflating all-round mats. It is the perfect choice for outdoor enthusiasts who prioritise low weight and a minimal pack size. It offers everything you need for a restful night’s sleep in the great outdoors.
The mat is the ideal companion for easy treks in spring, summer and autumn. It is lightweight, compact and therefore very easy to carry. With its 2.5 cm thick foam insulation, the SIM 2.5 offers sleeping comfort even on hard ground and protects against the cold from below. The practical flat valves allow for quick inflation and deflation.
The robust polyester outer fabric feels comfortable against the skin. Whatever your trekking adventure, this mat combines quality, comfort and sustainability at an affordable price.
Since 2021, EXPED has been supporting certified myclimate climate protection projects through a financial contribution. Together with the nonprofit organization, we have calculated the carbon footprint of all our products and our operations at our Zurich location. Our annual contribution is based on this calculation - but it does not change the carbon footprint itself.

R-value is a measure of thermal resistance. It indicates the efficiency of insulation by measuring its resistance to heat transfer. The higher the number, the slower the rate of heat transfer through an insulation.
In EXPED sleeping mats, higher R-values help sleepers retain the heat their bodies generate and the result is the pleasant and sometimes elusive condition called warmth.
Good to know: ISO-rated sleeping bags are tested with 7R mats. EXPED recommends using a sleeping mat with an R-Value of at least 6.5 or higher to ensure your sleeping bag provides the warmth it is rated for.
Here are a few helpful videos on how to repair sleeping mats. You can also find instructions in the repair kit included with your sleeping mat.
We recommend cleaning the mat with warm water and a mild detergent (no bleach!). Carefully clean the mat with a cloth or soft sponge. Make sure all valves are completely closed. Rinse well. The mat should be allowed to air dry after cleaning. DO NOT put your mat in a washing machine or dryer.
